Uptown Lounge is where you go to hear live R&B and soul in Midtown Kansas City.
The room is tuned. The sound is built for vocalists. There’s something on the stage every night we’re open, Wednesday through Saturday — soul, R&B, blues, and the piano sets that frame them.
The room
We built the place around the music. The acoustics get the attention. The sightlines work from every seat. The lights stay low.
Which, it turns out, makes it a great date spot too. Real atmosphere. Real music. Room to actually talk to the person you came with. People come for the music. They come back for the room.
The stage
The artists who play here aren’t pickup gigs. Blues Challenge winners. American Idol Hollywood Week vocalists. The “Queen of Southern Soul.” Singers and bands whose work shows up on national radio and streaming. The room earned them, and they bring the room.
How we support artists
A venue is only as good as the people who play in it. Uptown is built around that.
Every artist who plays here gets their own page on this site. Bio, photo, links to wherever they want their audience to find them next. Every one of those pages has a tip jar that goes straight to the artist’s Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal. None of it routes through us. If you heard a set you loved, you can support the person who played it in two taps.
Artists update their own pages too. They submit changes through the site, we review, and it goes live. Their bio. Their voice. Their control.
A healthy stage needs healthy artists. That’s the principle this whole thing is built on.
The bar
Cocktails made with care. A short, intentional wine and beer list. Everything chosen to fit the room and stay out of the way of the music.
We don’t serve food. Outside food is totally fine. Order delivery. Bring something from down the street. Whatever your night needs.
